Q. What is a Walk Team?

An IDF Walk for Primary Immunodeficiency team is a group of people who are united by a tie to the primary immunodeficiency (PI) community. The average team is about 10 people, but there is no limit to the size of your team. Teammates can be family, friends, co-workers, club members, members of a shared religious community, or any other grouping you can think of. Led by a team captain, teams are encouraged to fundraise together and create a sense of camaraderie through their efforts. The stronger the team, the more funds and awareness will be raised for the Immune Deficiency Foundation (IDF) to help the PI community.

Q. Is it hard being a Team Captain?

Serving as an IDF Walk for PI team captain does require some work, but IDF is ready and able to support your efforts. You will find it extremely rewarding to recruit, motivate and organize your friends, family and co-workers for a day of hope and fun.

Q. How do I register as a Team?

Simply choose a team name, set a goal and then choose the “Form a Team” option when you register. You will then invite potential teammates to select the “Join a Team” option, after which they will select the team name you set up from a drop down menu. So be sure and tell your potential teammates the team name you chose. Potential team members can also search for your team from www.walkforPI.org. Place your team name in the search box, and join your team from there.

Q. How do I register?

Online registration is fast, easy, and free!  Find the walk that you want to participate in, click the green "Register Now" button, and you will be guided through the registration process. Once your registration is complete, you will receive a confirmation e-mail receipt. If you do not wish to register online, we will be happy to take your registration over the phone. Q. How much does it cost to participate?

There is no required minimum to participate, but IDF asks every registered walker to ask 10 friends for $10 each to raise at least $100 each.

All walkers who raise $100 or more by the day of their walk will receive an official IDF Walk for PI t-shirt at the event. If you are participating in our virtual walk program, your t-shirt will be mailed to you at the end of the fall walk season (December).

Q. What happens after I register for the Walk?

Immediately following your registration for IDF Walk for PI, a Personal Fundraising Page will be automatically created for you. This page can be customized to tell your story and connection to PI.

Q. I’m walking and my family will join me. Should they register too?

Yes! All walkers, regardless of age, must register to participate in IDF Walk for PI. This is for your safety and so that each participant qualifies for fundraising incentives, including the $100 minimum raised in order to receive a t-shirt. It also helps us keep track of the number of attendees, so we can plan correctly for snacks, chairs, sponsor giveaways, etc.

Q. Can my child participate in the Walk?

IDF Walk for PI is for all ages! With a little help from an adult, children have the potential to be great fundraisers. Who could say no to a child who wants to raise money for a cause they are personally connected to? Please make sure you register your child for the walk!

Q. How does Team Fundraising work?

All donations should be credited individually to a walker. Although you can donate to a team, team donations do not count toward an individual’s efforts or to their prize redemption. By donating to a walker (or a team), you are supporting the team the walker is on and, of course, to the event as a whole. All donations to an individual roll up into the team total. Fundraising prizes and incentives are based on individual fundraising success.

Q. What if there is not a Walk in my area? Can I still participate?

Absolutely! You have two options:

1)     You can register for the Virtual Walk by clicking the virtual walk under the walk tab. You’ll have access to all the online fundraising tools and will be eligible for incentive prizes, just like all the other walks.
